SUPPORTING THE HOMELESS PEOPLE

In December 2011, we have established a partnership with Comunidade Vida e Paz – a Portuguese charity organization – and we contribute every month with several meals that are distributed by this institution to the homeless people in the city.

We have also contributed with beds, mattresses, heaters and a fire detection system.

Our guests can also leave their voluntary contribution such as food, hygiene products, blankets or money.

Comunidade Vida e Paz

was created in 1989 and its mission is to meet and welcome the homeless people, or in a situation of social vulnerability, helping them to regain their dignity and to (re)build their project of life through an integrated action of prevention, rehabilitation and reintegration.

ENVIRONMENTAL GOOD PRACTICES

In a determined commitment to reduce our ecological footprint, we have implemented several environmental good practices such as the reduction of energy consumption (tracking energy use on a regular basis, the use of energy-efficient light bulbs and fans rather than air-conditioning, no television in the guesthouse), the reduction of water consumption (water-fluid control in taps, showers and flushers, towel and linen re-use program), waste separation and recycling, and having our breakfast composed mostly of local products to avoid CO2 emissions.
